Christmas Done Come Early This Year

Joy. Redemption. Ecstasy (not the drug, either). Domination.

Elation.

These are the emotions and feelings that surged through the veins of 88,000 of my closest friends as the embattled Aggies of Texas A&M overcame a turbulent season of adversity to put a Texas-sized whoopin' on the lowly wronghorns of t.u. As I stated in my previous post, there hadn't been much in the past month to get excited about if you were a die-never Aggie fan (die-hard fans die at some time - true fans are die-never). I came into last Friday's game with the expectation that we would play hard and hopefully put up a good fight.

Well, we did that and more. In what turned out to be our former carpet-bagging head coach's last game, the men in maroon and white put up one hell of a fight and dominated most of the game before a slight tu comeback was thwarted. Final Score - 38 to 30. Final feeling - hell to the yeah!!

We found out later that for the first time this year, our former coach actually let his OC call the game and, wow, what a difference that made. Steven McGee looked like the player we thought he would be - passing for nearly 400 yards. Our running game was stout, our receivers were more than just ugly decoys and our defense, anchored by Kellen "No Tellin'" Heard from Wharton, Texas, was good when it had to be.

At the start of the 4th quarter we led by 21 points on an outclassed team in prison roadside orange and white. The McGig'Em family was whoopin' and hollerin' and just savoring the moment. When the game ended, we celebrated like all good Ags - we sawed off Varsity's horns.

Shortly after the game our former coach "resigned". We have an interim head coach for our as-yet-undecided bowl game and a new full time head coach in Mike Sherman. The future suddenly doesn't look quite as glum as it did before our annual post turkey day matchup with our rivals (who now own a 2 game LOSING streak). Who knows what the future will hold?

Actually, I do know, but I can't tell you - that would spoil the fun.
