Blown Calls and the Games Go On

If you haven't heard by now, reports are that our good friends from Austin had a potentially game altering call go their way (see more at http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3005873) in their narrow 21-13 win against Arkansas St. I won't go into this in too much, as I'm sure there are other conspiracy theorists out there who can elaborate much more eloquently and detailed than yours truly. What I will say is that, like it or not, blown calls are as much a part of any sport as the participants and spectators. I can probably name a few other obviously botched calls (remember the mystery flag when KU almost beat tu a few years back or what about Tech's um, touchdown, against OU two years ago). There's not much the fans can really do. In this particular instance, even if there had been no penalty, the game may have still ended with the same score, but try telling that to the Arkansas St. players, coaches and fans. Losing stinks, but losing due to a controversial call, foul or penalty makes it that much worse. All you can do if you are the vanquished is handle it with as much class and dignity as possible. I hope upon hope that our season isn't marred by a controversial call, but it's something that we can't control. Just keep your thumbs crossed for consistent calls.

What about the Houston Oilers and the Buffalo Bills? Bad calls and no replay?!
